According to this story on NHL.com, Kovalchuk turned down separate offers of 7 years and $70M and 12 years for $101M from Atlanta. You simply can't pay a forward this much money and expect to field a Stanley Cup-caliber roster. Forget about Ilya Kovalchuk Boston.
KPD also reported in today's Globe that the Bruins were lagging well behind other bidders in what they were willing to give up. That's good news to me.
